Many are aware of electric lawnmowers but what about a riding lawn mower? There are a few to consider but we are going to discuss electric riding lawn mowers and where to get one in this post.

Why Use An Electric Lawn Mower?

This is a very good question to ask. Many are already aware of how using an electric mower helps cut down on emissions being put into the air. That is one good reason to use electric.

Then there is the noise factor. They are much quieter than gas mowers. In case you were not aware of how expensive maintenance can be and how often gas mowers send you to the shop, it is a true fact that you will have to face using gas.

Electric mowers don’t have all the components a gas one does like the spark plugs and the need for the attention of proper oil levels. These two things can become a nightmare for you if you are not a lawn mower mechanic.

Bob Vila, who is a home improvement icon, states many good reasons you should use electric over gas. He believes it is cheaper to operate electric than gas mowers. According to him, an electric mower takes about $5 to $10 a season to operate while gas mowers take about $15 to $25 a season.

What Electric Riding Lawn Mowers Are Available

While you are here I am going to show you a few options you have and give you a chance to find the price that fits your budget. I looked around and will give you a chance to view what I found.

American  Power Products Edge Zero Turn

The edge zero-turn lawn mower is a very attractive piece of equipment for anyone who is trying to do their part in being eco-friendly. It offers all that I mentioned earlier like the zero emissions while in use as well as reducing the noise factor.

This is with all electric lawn equipment and are a few of the top features as far as recognizing the environment. It is a pretty costly piece of equipment but if it is within your budget it is a marvelous way to go. The Edge is priced at $3,999.00 You can reserve yours with a $250.00 deposit or pay in full to have it shipped to you.

If you have a property that is around 3-acres, this mower will run up to 1.5 hours and cover 3- acres on one charge. If you need more run time an extension package is available to double your ride time.

Other Affordable Options For A Electric Riding Mower

If you can get the job done without having a zero turn there is another option that will allow you to be eco-friendly and save yourself the headache of maintenance, gas & oils.

Ryobi Electric Rear Engine Riding Lawn Mower

The Ryobi riding mowers are just as effective in all terms except you have the steering wheel instead of the zero-turn. The wheel is worth using if you are on a budget and want to spend less. It also has add-ons if you really do lawn maintenance on your lawn.

Here is the visual for the Ryobi Electric Riding Mower.

There are a few models that Ryobi has with this Lawn Mower. The mowers that I found are the RY48111 Models. They are the same mower but just a different model number.

Not any difference as far as I can tell. I could not find the RM480 model which leads me to believe they are not being made anymore.

You can also get accessories for this mower like the bagger, dethatcher & front mount blade for snow. That is awesome.

Which is better for mowing 2.5 acres once a week: Lithium ion or lead acid batteries? Which is likely to have the longest life?
